This past weekend saw the release of the Antoine Fuqua‘s version of the classic film The Magnificent Seven. John Sturges‘s original Magnificent Seven was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa‘s classic film, The Seven Samurai. On this episode of Part-Time Fanboy, Kristian sits down with fellow film fanboy, J. Holtham to discuss the original 1960 remake. Starring the legendary cast of Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, James Coburn, and Horst Bucholz The Magnificent Seven became the template for the American version of the “Getting the Gang” together action drama. J. and Kristian attempt to discuss many aspects of the now iconic film, including how it affected them the first time they saw it, how it holds up today, and the legacy it has had on American cinematic history.
