The Black Panther was the first black superhero in American mainstream comics and he was unlike anything anyone had seen before. Known as Prince T’Challa from the fictional African nation of Wakanda, Black Panther offered a generation of young African-American comic book readers a hero who was a regal, powerful, and intelligent. Black Panther would become an inspiration to a generation of comic fans who would generally never see themselves positively represented in the pages of comic books.
