Years ago, during a decade called the 90’s,in an alternate reality, film maker Tim Burton released a Superman film starring Nicholas Cage called “Superman Lives”! Fortunately, in our reality, that Superman movie never made it past the planning stages…much to the relief of many a Superman fan…except one…filmmaker Jon Schnepp. Intrigued by the possibilities of a Tim Burton helmed Superman film, Schnepp went on a holy quest to track down the reasons why this Superman movie never came to fruition. Armed with a determination that only the most fanatic of fanboys could understand, Schnepp created the fantastic documentary “The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened?” Paul and Kristian had an opportunity to see the documentary at the Egyptian Theater in Hollyood, California a while ago and this week they finally get a chance to hash out how they feel about the Superman movie that never was and how it would affect the Superman movies that eventually came to be. They also talk about the documentary itself and the monumental feat it took to bring to light the story of the failed Superman movie that never happened! This week’s Part-Time Fanboy episode is Superman-centric as we talk about the documentary that finally gave fans some insight into a project that most comic fans are glad never happened but had some interesting possibilities nonetheless.
