Meltdown Comics was one of the premier comic book shops in not only the Los Angeles area but in the world. It was a pop culture hub in the middle of the City of Angels that not only catered to the best in comics but was also a mini-comedy club as well as a school for aspiring comic creators. When Meltdown closed suddenly earlier this year it sent shockwaves through the comic book community. A place that many fans had visited on a regular basis for their comic book fix and camaraderie with like-minded comic book geeks was gone.

This past weekend some of the alumni from the comic making classes run by Jim Higgins had a bit of a mini-comic convention at another comic book shop known as A Shop Called Quest. People who had developed their own comic properties through the program at Meltdown gathered to sell their wares and celebrate the sense of community they had developed through the classes that began at the now defunct Meltdown Comics. Kristian just happened to be at the event and got a chance to speak with a hodgepodge of vibrant, dynamic, and creative folks who were breaking out with their own brand of comic book creativity! So tune in for some fun conversations with some up-and-coming comic book talent whose books could very well be the most sought after sequential series in your local comic book shop before too long!
