This week Part-Time Fanboy continues its expedition into the eighties with a look at a very different kind of cop show that debuted in 1987. 21 Jump Street told the story of a squad of detectives who infiltrated high schools and colleges busting young adults and teenagers for various crimes. It was the show that helped the then Fox television network get off the ground and also propelled a then unknown Johnny Depp to stardom. Jump Street also featured actors Peter DeLuise, Holly Robinson, Dustin Nguyen, Frederick Forrest, and eventually Steven Williams as a group of police officers dedicated to infiltrating the seedy halls of 1980s academia. On this episode of Part-Time Fanboy Kristian sits down with J. Holtham, Paul Edwards, and Yvis Cannavale to chat about how a show about narcs became so popular among the teenage set and what it’s like to watch this show through an adult lens with a modern viewpoint.
