Everyone knows the old horror movie trope of the Final Girl who is the last person standing after a diseased maniac or chilling monster has taken out everyone else in the story. It’s an archetype that’s been around horror storytelling even longer than the time that Laurie Strode survived Michael Myers‘s fateful attack on Haddonfield. But what if the Final Girls from different movies were brought together by a mysterious government agency in order to prevent people from suffering the same fates that they experienced? That’s the very fun concept behind writer Josh Eiserike‘s new graphic novel The Very Last Final Girls published by Darby Pop Publishing. This week Kristian chats with Josh about why he created a comic book story based on one of the staples of horror storytelling even though he wasn’t crazy about the genre itself, how he was inspired by the film Cabin in the Woods, and how much of a deep dive into fright cinema he had to do in order to do the research for The Very Last Final Girls.
