Scott Chantler is a cartoonist who started his career in comics by creating graphic novels based on historical events. When his son asked him one day to make a story that had castles in it, he turned his attention toward fantasy fiction. The result was the Three Thieves series which ended up spanning seven books and would eventually win the Joe Shuster Award for Best Comic For Kids. For a long while the Three Thieves series was out of print but earlier this month Papercutz Comics began publishing new editions of the series…beginning with Three Thieves: Tower of Treasure. This week on the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian chats with Scott about his highly regarded comic series, who the artists were that influenced his own art style, and what it was like shifting gears from heavily researched historical books to creating a fantasy world from scratch.
