April Fools’ Day is here so it’s time to talk about bad movies! All this month, we at the Part-Time Fanboy clubhouse will be talking about our favorite “bad” movies. Movies we love, but that other people may not have such a favorable opinion of or movies we haven’t seen, which have terrible reputations, and that we decide to give a shot to win us over.
To open up the April Fools’ Day ceremonies we begin with the 1980 remake of The Jazz Singer starring Neil Diamond! Kristian saw Song Sung Blue over the holidays and loved it, so he decided it was time to revisit the one and only film Neil Diamond ever acted in. Is Neil Diamond’s Jazz Singer as bad as its reputation? How can a movie that spawned such songs as “Hello Again“, “America“, and “Love on the Rocks“ be a bad cinematic experience? This week the PTF box seats are full as friends of the podcast Joe Slepski (Joe on Joe Podcast), Steven Prince (Monster Matador, Mercy in Prison), Josh Eiserike (The Very Last Final Girls, Charm City, Pale of Settlement), and Yvis Cannavale gather together to find out if The Jazz Singer is moan inducing or if it will have you singing its praises come karaoke time!
