On September 8th, Star Trek celebrates its 60th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, Kristian decided to gather some of the biggest Trek nerds he knew to talk about the Star Trek films featuring the original cast of actors. This week, PTF welcomes Trekker and Kristian's brother-in-law, Dan Twohig, to the bridge of the Starship Part-Time Fanboy to discuss the original 1979 film directed by Robert Wise. They beam up Barry Negrin (Part-Time Fanboy's resident Doctor Who expert and Trek fan) and podcast regular Yvis Cannavale to join in the chat about Star Trek: The Motion Picture. They take a look at the remastered 4K director's edition that was released in 2022 and examine the ins and outs of a film that was not appreciated upon its initial release, but has come to be accepted as a movie that embraces the ethos of the original series possibly more than any of the other films in the franchise.
