In 1982 director John Carpenter released a movie called The Thing. The Thing was a remake of an older horror movie called The Thing From Another World allegedly directed by Howard Hawks which was based on a short novella by John W. Campbell Jr. titled “Who Goes There?” Upon its release The Thing was both a critical and box office failure. In the years since it’s come out, however, it has become heralded as a horror/sci-fi classic with many calling it John Carpenter’s masterpiece. Last week Kristian had the chance to attend a screening of The Thing with his good friend J. Holtham  at the Laemelle NoHo in Los Angeles. The Thing was shown as a part of their Throwback Thursday screening series. On this episode of Part-Time Fanboy J and Kristian sit down to discuss what they consider to be one of their favorite horror movies of all time. It’s an fun conversation that tends to dive deep into the weeds of what The Thing actually is than any other aspects of the movie itself but should be a fun listen for any fan of Carpenter’s sci-fi/horror/thriller.
