In 1984 director James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd developed a science fiction movie that would thrill audiences and spawn a movie franchise. The Terminator would eventually change how action movies were made with its immediate sequel and the movies would continue to thrive way past the date of the apocalyptic future it had imagined for humanity. The first two Terminator movies were box office smashes that helped launch the mega stardom of Arnold Schwarzenegger and solidified Cameron’s legacy as one of Hollywood’s most visionary action movie directors. Unfortunately, the Terminator series never reached past the heights that the first two movies did creatively or financially. This past weekend saw the release of Terminator: Dark Fate which had Cameron (as producer) and original star Linda Hamilton return to the series for the first time in almost thirty years. It seems, however, that Cameron and Hamilton’s returns weren’t enough to get audiences back in theaters as the movie has been declared a bomb by the entertainment press after opening to lackluster box office numbers. Does the latest Terminator film deserve the dark fate of box office disappointment it’s receiving? Find out as this week as Kristian sits down with his friends Paul Edwards and Barry Negrin to discuss the latest entry in the Terminator mythos on this episode of Part-Time Fanboy!
