Don Walker is a creator who has been working in the indie comics trenches for years. With his own imprint, Dork Empire Ink, he’s self-published books like Reaper Corps and Agent: Wild which bind the present day world with a futuristic cyber-punk-like future. He recently started a new Kickstarter campaign to fund a new comic called Dreadlock the Barbarian. Dreadlock shifts gears a bit from his other books in that it takes the action out into a futuristic Western desert wasteland while still being part of the same world. This week Kristian chats with Don about how Star Wars movies and X-Men comic books inspired him to become an artist, how he goes about crafting the intricate worlds his books exist in, and what difficulties black comic creators can face when attempting to get African-American audiences to support their projects.
