Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz was a comic book fan who was headed for a career in science after having studied molecular and cellular biology in college. Fate had other plans for him though as one day, at a convention, he apparently asked the right question at a panel and was approached by none other than C. B. Cebulski who asked him to apply to join the editorial staff at Marvel Comics! Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and his hopes of being hired by Marvel were dashed. Trevor made lemonade out of lemons by creating his own comic book, Area 51: The Helix Project, and has produced four issues so far with the fifth issue currently on Kickstarter now! This week Kristian chats with Trevor about how someone with a degree in science decided to make a hard career turn into comics, how comics like Watchmen and characters like Batman and Superman inspired his passion for comics, and how he balances his background in molecular and cellular biology with his desire to tell very human stories within the pages of his own comic book.
