J.M. Brandt is the writer of the horror comic Swamp Dogs. Like so many creative individuals he’s been horrified by what the current presidential administration has been doing to marginalize LGBTQ people and individuals of color…so he decided to do something about it. He pulled people together from all corners of the comic and artistic community and created Horror Not Hate, a comic book anthology currently funding on Kickstarter that uses the horror genre to tackle stories about fascism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, racism, and toxic patriotism. On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian sits down with J.M. to talk about his Kickstarter project, how he’s using the funds from it to support Lambda Legal and CHIRLA, and how the horror genre can be an escape from the real horrors that are currently being visited upon certain people in the United States.
