Karla Nappi is a writer who has a Kickstarter running for her indie comic titled Duplicant. Set in a near future world, Duplicant imagines a reality in which a pandemic of organ failure has struck the population of the Earth. As a result, humanity has had to create artificial components in order to replace the organs that are no longer able to function normally. In an ideal world such a medical breakthrough would be a boon to mankind but in Duplicant it creates a reality in which the people who fall ill become a serf class to the rich who pay for the procedures which save their very lives. On this episode of Part-Time Fanboy Kristian chats with Karla about the challenges she faced in putting her first comic book project together, her years working in the entertainment industry as a script coordinator and writer, and the support system she’s become a part of to help her get her first Kickstarter project off the ground.
