Rich Davis owns Nirvana Comics in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Davis is a huge horror fan and as a purveyor of comics, decided one day that the time had finally come to create his own comic book. The result is Cult of Dracula, a love letter to the bloodsucking vampires that stalk the night. In the world of Cult of Dracula, the world’s most powerful vampire is worshipped as religious figurehead, inspiring radical zealots to commit horrifying acts. This week Kristian chats with Rich about what motivated him to take the mythology of the vampire and morph it into the inspiration for a rabid sect of killers. Davis talks about how various religions inspired his own take on vampire folklore, how gender and sexuality aren’t necessarily concrete constructs when it comes to dealing with vampires, and how his love of horror movies moved him to create a bloodcurdling tale of his own!
