Dalton K. Shannon is a writer who has a deep love for the Universal Studios horror monsters of old. When it came time to create his own comic he decided it had to be based on one of the beasties from the old black and white creature features. Teaming with co-writer and co-creator Wells Thompson, Dalton brought to life a decidedly different take on Mary Shelley‘s own Frankenstein’s monster in Frankenstein the Unconquered! In his book, Frankenstein is a hard edged warrior on the run in a post-apocalyptic landscape! Frankenstein the Unconquered is part horror comic, part dystopian nightmare, and part sword and sorcery epic all mixed into one powerful sequential story package! This week Kristian chats with Dalton about the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for Frankenstein the Unconquered (whose pre-launch page you can find here), why he considers Frankenstein to be the “Batman” of the monster movie menagerie, and how he sees the balance of labor between artists and writers working in the indie comics workspace.
