Matthew Blair is writer with a deep passion for the history of Ancient Rome. He’s taken that passion and crafted an incredibly unique and powerful graphic novel called Romanis Magicae which delves into the struggle of opposing forces within the Roman Empire. Romanis Magicae is set to be published soon by Heavy Metal’s new Virus imprint but Matthew has started a Kickstarter campaign for a preview comic for the series to give comic book fans a taste of the fantastically distinctive world he’s built with his new book. On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast Kristian sits down with Matthew to get a lesson on the history of the Roman Republic! They talk about different aspects of Roman and Greek political life and mythology, the challenges of making a gladiator comic in today’s market, and the fact that, yes, they both do like gladiator movies!
