Fred Kennedy is a writer with a passion for history. He took that love of history, combined it with his affection for comics and together with artist Nick Marinkovich created the mini-series Dead Romans…which is set to debut through Image Comics on March 22nd. Dead Romans takes readers back to the days of the ancient Roman empire. In the comic, Kennedy details the exploits of Arminius…a Roman soldier of Germanic descent who would eventually lead a revolt against the Romans known as the Battle of Teutoburg Forest…a campaign which would become regarded as one of the greatest defeats the Roman empire would ever suffer. On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian sits down with Fred to discuss why he’s fascinated with this particular era of history, how he approached Marinkovich to illustrate the book, and how he took what is considered to be one of the most monumental events in human history and was able to turn it into a focused story about love and betrayal.
