ARKS is a science fiction series which Kristian considers to be the craziest, most original, and most compelling comic book story he’s read in a long, long time. Built around the complex idea of abiogenesis, ARKS details the “journey” of two interstellar space travelers from Earth who have been commissioned with traversing the stars and setting up a human colony on another planet. The voyagers in ARKS, however, are pioneers unlike any ever seen in the pages of a graphic novel. ARKS tells the story of the Adam/Eve/Lilith myth through a warped lens which presents a completely different kind of sci-fi tale. ARKS: Proximan is the latest chapter in the ARKS saga. It’s a spinoff of the original series and its Kickstarter campaign launches today. This week on the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian crosses the pond once again to chat with UK storyboard artist, Rory J. Collins, to talk about the genesis of his incredibly unique sci-fi story. They talk about how he came up with the idea, how he was able to explore and express complex scientific concepts in his comic, and how he broke down the notions in ARKS to the artists who helped him illustrate the story.
