April Fools’ month is here so it’s time to talk about bad movies! All this month, we at the Part-Time Fanboy clubhouse will be talking about our favorite “bad” movies. Movies we love, but that other people may not have such a favorable opinion of or movies we haven’t seen, which have terrible reputations, and that we decide to give a shot to win us over.
This week artist and cinephile Lauren Damon picks the 2001 comedy Monkeybone! Directed by Henry Selick and starring Brendan Fraser, Bridget Fonda, and Rose McGowan, Monkeybone tells the story of what happens when an artist falls into a coma and actually gets to meet his cartoon creation. Comic book writer Travis Webb (Starlite, the upcoming Nemesis) joins in the fun as Kristian invites them into the PTF funhouse to try and figure out what Monkeybone is and what, if anything, could have saved it from being the half baked spawn of Tim Burton, Pee Wee Herman, and Roger Rabbit!
