This week Part-Time Fanboy goes international once again! Sam Johnson is a writer from the U.K. whose series Geek-Girl currently has a Kickstarter campaign running to fund its Fifth issue! Inspired by comics such as Grant Morrison’s run on The Doom Patrol, Johnson has been creating his own comics for ten years! After having successfully funded his first run of Geek-Girl on Kickstarter Sam, along with artist Carlos Granda, has decided to make his series an ongoing endeavor. Geek-Girl tells the story of Ruby Kaye, a popular girl who discovers a pair of superpower-inducing eyeglasses and ends up using them to reluctantly fight crime. Described as Mean Girls but with a superheroic twist, Geek-Girl is a somewhat different take on the typical superheroine adventure. On this episode, Kristian has a chat with Mr. Johnson about his indie comic from overseas and the challenges of forming his own superhero universe from across the pond.
